FORMAL CONCEPTS

For this project, the idea of having a more simple design and less constraints to work with opened up a lot of new possibilities. The concept of public versus private space WAS A PRIMARY FOCUS, especially considering how few elements were given to work with. Using two staircases and a few arches, A SPACE WAS CREATED that invited movement throughout the entire area, leading a person to areas that contained different feelings of publicity. Compression and release was also considered while designing the private space. This concept led to a more compact space, adding more privacy to its features.
